Yesterday my TKM K4S died at the end of a straight with no warning after 2 laps of a session and after having done around 45mins of running already in the day.
I found I couldn't turn the crank with a ratchet straight after it stopped but as the engine cooled I got more and more movement until eventually I got 360 degrees of travel but it felt unnaturally tight and there was always a tight spot.
I drained the oil and only got around 100ml out (250ml goes in) and noticed a number of small filings on the tip of the sump plug. From what I can see of the top of the piston it's fine, dry black and the plug is normal too.
The engine hasn't been forced to rev that highly the last few times out and the engine is on around 35 hours since last rebuild. Any ideas what this could point to?
