On balance I have to agree with Welshy although you cannot underestimate Martin's efforts to continue a national Prokart championship when the MSA delayed issuing the appropriate licence.
You only have to remember the noise that comes from the ABKC Rowrah event. Again you can't decry Malcolm's efforts in continuing with this over the years, however, can you compare a one off meeting with half a dozen drivers contesting against multi round championship hosted at numerous club meetings throughout the year?
The biggest problem in karting in general is fragmentation. Prokarting continues to be fragile and grids have fallen over the past few years and combining with EPEC, in my opinion, was a step in the right direction. Plus exposure alongside EKL may create interest from the EKL to step into the owner driver championship for both sprinting and endurance.
I wish each championship every success. They all need our support. More importantly so do our clubs, MSA and non-MSA as without interest at grass roots level the class will simply disappear.
