Jeff,
The point you miss is that all of the current grid have the Dunlop tyre and finished racing in November without any notification from the club that the tyre will change. There has only been one voice suggesting that the Dunlop be retained, everyone else is happy to switch to the Brigestone but have expressed concern that they don't necessarily have the budget to buy 2 brand new sets of tyres for round one.
And at the risk of repeating myself we have always run to the tyre used by the National Championship and as the Honda Challenge has picked up this mantle we should too (the o-plate at Rowrah aside).
At Wl the Dunlop will be quicker in the dry - At Teesside it was the Bridgestone. In the wet it will be condition specific but I recall in 2010 in full wet Stephen White being as quick as Welshy on respective tyres. With Wets, however, we all have numerous sets of various wear tyres - Dunlops that is. The way the regulations are currently written would resign these to the bin if the first 3 rounds are dry. I wouldn't consider this to be in anyone's interest especially as we are supposed to be attempting to take cost out of karting!
