I am sprint racing on T1 engines (it is now 13 months since they were rebuilt at RPM) & there seems little difference between T1s & T2s engines. Worth a mention that T2s are new engine & made with all new tooling at the factory, so standard engines will be good out of the box SPs will become better, later as the tooling wares at the factory where they are made.
If your chassis is past its best the only thing to do is replace it. Most chassiss tighten with age, making them, generally better in the wet. Some are worse than others, I had a chassis just 2 seasons old & it was a waste of time, it had gone off so badly that it had lost 1.5 seconds a lap from when it was new. If your engines are reasonable, by the sounds of it they are, look at spending your hard earned on a new chassis. There are 3 good chassiss out there MS, 7Kart & Wright/R2. BRM seem to be coming back into the endurance side of racing. Hope this is of some help
