Hi Over the past couple of months we have been trying to get our sprocket set up right. We racw at three sisters in Wigan and both drivers are on the heavy side weighing in at a total of 195kg with kart. We were advised to use 20/63 set up which wasnt pulling us out of the corners quick enough, also our revs at the end of the long straight were only 5200. We were then advised to change to 20/66 to give better acceleration out of corners which it did and also got our revs upto 5750. Further advise then made us try 20/68 last nite. We again got better lift off and acceleration out of corners and our revs on long straight hit 5850. However we were still getting karts flying past us on the long straight as we have with all three sprocket set ups. Not sure what to do from here. We are going to have the engines looked at and serviced to make sure they are upto scratch however does anyone have any further advise on the sprocket set up. Would changing to 22 tooth clutches make any difference? Im assuming this would just upset the ratio again and have to then adjust the rear sprocket also?? Although we got a good run in practice yesterday we only lasted ten minutes of a two hour race due to some bad driving skills of another driver who took our kart out and damaged it, causing us to retire!!
