I put a brand new belt on mine, after 2 practice days it was already showing bad signs of wear, there was also the odd nick out of the belt, even with all the orifices covered up. I've created a 25mm belt kit, so now 14mm wider than the original 11mm belt, which i'll be able to put on, and leave on, check it but not replace it, it'll do all my f6 races and the OEKC (4.5hours plus 1.5hour practice) and it won't wear as fast as the standard belt. Plus it only costs me 26 delivered for the belt.
I'm also running extra power through an upgraded exhaust system used in europe and a single 30mm carburettor upgrade design by a european company. The power it'll sap will be over come by the reliability i'll gain. I'll now be able to hammer all the kerbs as i please to make sure i can get every tenth i need, and not worry about the titchy little rubber band that is the original size belt snapping. And if it saps too much power... i'll just give it some more power to bring it back :) I've read everywhere that the original belt was not up to the job, even the Europeans thought so, and the Americans. Cambelts shouldn't be consumables so its getting a proper one, looks like a supercharger belt haha
Thanks, Thomas...............
