Are we talking about a tool and a gauge here?
The tool locks the engine at TDC using the clutch mount key way and tappings on the side cover and then a gauge is used to measure the distance / correlation of the magnet and coil?
Faster has a good point with relation to a stack up of tolerances that could have builders exploiting the use of a TDC setting tool that could lead to some really special SP engines. The next 'tuners mod' will be altering the clutch keyway position!
The tool could however be an aid for setting the engine at TDC, however the rules are that the gauge must have a certain fit / position when the engine is at true TDC.
Kelvin, sorry if it sounds like I'm chucking a spanner in the works, that's not what I'm trying to do. Huge respect to you for working on making the engines more equal.
