Anyone that knows me will be aware that I didn't get taken in by the 'Extreme' hype when they were rolled out at the end of last year; Im a self proclaimed 'GX160 Believer' who wants to use self prepared engines and has little interest in paying for someone else to do this.
Ive been speaking to lots of people, getting views and watching what has been happening on the grids. People that I have a huge amount of respect for such as Bob Pope, creator of the Prokart, have embraced this engine class. Drivers that had invested a lot of money on strong 160s have ditched them in favour of the Extreme, even if they werent customers of RPM previously.
I haven't seen a single negative comment regarding the racing experience with these engines. This looks to be a very popular choice of engine at PFI, Warden Law and possibly Teesside for sprint races, and has certainly made its mark in EPEC.
You need to make a personal choice race 160s and never actually know if youre being beaten because your competitors have stronger engines (but still have great fun racing), or consider using Extremes so you at least know that part of the equation is as level as it gets in motorsport..but youll need to think up some new excuses just in case you dont end up where you want to be!
