You can do all of this yourself and the only "special" tool required is the timing gauge.
If you are planning to race anyway I would recommend keeping the engines within the regulations as this will not give you a false sense of how you are performing.
If you don't fancy doing the work yourself (but trust me it is satisfying to learn how to get the best of what you have and keeping them in fine fettle) there are loads of really well priced, former race winning engines in team's sheds since the introduction of the Extreme engine in 2014 and I would be more than happy to introduce you if you so desired.
