I'm guessing you are in a prokart?
We have never raced there, but have been told that in a tow in cadets running the GX160 max rpm's of 6400-6600 are not out of the question.....which is very high!......so it can depend if you are in a tow or not.
If the GX200 extremes are anything like the cadets the performance at high rpm's is pitiful.......hence having a chassis that releases off the corners and being able to run a lower gear is the order of the day
my point being you should be looking at the low rpm's just as much as the top rpm's, if not more at the low rpm's
what clutches are you running?......the maxtorque SS (Six-Shoe) clutches bite REALLY hard off the corners compared to the magnum/premier 2-shoe things.....worth a try for a big heavy kart like a prokart.
