I sold my w/formula earlier this year as grids were about non existant at w/law and teesside, fwiw on the reliabilty front mine was my first ever kart and used pretty much every weekend for 9 months I shared it with my son so we could both cut our teeth and learn to drive a kart so you can imagine how much time It had on track flat out and mechanically it was spot on , keep an eye on the oil level and change it every other meeting, another 2 of my pals the same story, reverse side of the coin I know of 4 rebuilt engines that let go within 3 laps of being built.from what I can see they dont like being pulled apart and put back together again!
Ive recently bought a prokart and have done one race at W/law in and so far like it as much as w/formula although Im yet to crack a 60sc lap in my prokart where as I could hit late 58s in my w/form ,but to be fair we havnt had the weather yet!
budgetwise Ive spent 3 times more on my prokart and new rpm engines than I did on a w/formula but I felt I had too as the prokart grid is very competetive ,Ive tried a cheap prokart earlier in the year and I was hopless in it!
would I go back to W/formula ?
yes 2mrw but only if grids improved and I would run with a new engine and give it regular oil changes, after a season I would buy a new one rather than getting it rebuilt.
