In response to the original post, all I can say is that, A bad workman always blames his tools.
Yeah, maybe you're engines arent that fantastic, maybe there are good engines and bad engines, but do everything else you can first, before you even start going down that road.
If you want to go buy yourself a fantastic engine, go race in some 2 stroke class, where all it is is engines, engines, engines.
Youre racing in prokart, and, in my opinion, we're the best drivers in the country, we are the best at setting up our karts out of anyone. Try the other things first, like maybe youre driving, before you start your quest for mechanical perfection. Nothing's ever perfect.
It's a bit of a rant, but seriously, it pi**es me off. I have a standard set of engines, nothing special about them and, they do me okay, and i'm sure i'm not the only one in this situation.
Prioritize 1.) YOUR driving 2.) Kart Setup 3.) Tyres / Engines.
If you havent got good foundations, your finished piece is gonna be cr*p, no matter how much money you throw at it.
And remember that, perfection is a desire, that you'll never ever have. Aiming for perfection, is a goal, that you CAN have.
Ferd.
