my younger lad was racing s1 at Whilton at the weekend, I know we have a decent Sp motor but from the bottom corner up the hill even in the tow we were struggling to hang on and at times dropping 3 kart lengths to other karts ,we were all on controlled tyres so that took that out the equation so I was thinking our engine had either dropped off or was seriously underpowered compared to the karts we were racing and I think anyone watching my lad would have come to same conclusion but by the final by changing set up to accommodate the track conditions we found a lot of pace and were passing up the hill from a long way back.
In short I think last weekend like most race meetings was more about getting the set up right than having the best motor, we could have put the best engine in the world on but without the right set up we still wouldn't have found the pace.
