Hi to all, just thought I would post about a great day of racing.
After a few years away from sprint racing I was itching to get back into the seat, so within a week I bought a chassis and crossed to the dark side and got a Rotax Max (Grrr clutches!).
Anyway along with a friend I entered one of the OEKC races at Whilton Mill, in short, a four and a half hour straight race, just turn up on the day and away you go. I think one of the amazing things was that we got through half a season of sprint racing track time in one afternoon! (Mucho aches and pains the next day!)
My experience on the day was really good, lots of nice helpful people (Thanks again Monty for the use of your spare battery,) and the driving was all very clean as there is clearly no point binning it on the first lap. We even managed to take home the trophy as the fastest novice team which made the week of prep all worth while.
I do wonder why more people don't talk about this kind of racing it just seems like a much better investment, not so much in money terms but more in time. It would be great to see bigger grids at this kind of event and I'm sure I'll be back next month for the next race.
It truly is open endurance with 2 and 4 stoke karts racing side by side. I was surprised that not many prokarts had made the grid as most of the endurance series seems to go in that direction, come on guys where are you all hiding!
So I hope I havn't tested your reading endurance with my long post, why not give the OEKC series a go. I'm sure many people would like it.
