Okay, well my sons not a beginner Im afraid, hes been karting for around 5 years. At times he has raced and been around 1second off the pace, but the kart has been sat in the garage for a year.
For instance, typically, how much time is to be found from an out of the box engine (compared to a selected parts unit?). Our setup needs tweaking, he thought that the track felt completely different to last time (apparantly it was sandblasted a few years ago, and wasnt right when we were last there, but now, he feels as though its more normal - more as it used to be).
So, with prepared engines, a tweak of our setup, new tyres, would be be able to find 0.5s+? I know its all very vague, as I could have the best GX160's around, or the worst for instance. Our chassis is also 6 years old, its not been heavily used, but I believe that setup is more important than the actual age of the chassis.
All replies welcome!
