I have read a fair bit on here about how the clutch should be installed on the gx160. I keep seeing people mentioning the clutch should have a small amount of “float” can anyone tell me why this is? The reason I ask is we have noticed damaged to the crank shaft key way and have been told it is because the float allows the clutch to pound into it on engagement. If the clutch was flush to the shoulder of the crank shaft this should not happen. At present we are using a flat washer on the crank shaft shoulder and have a small amount of movement. Is there a washer specifically made for the Honda crank shaft (slightly bevelled to match it) as I cannot find one. I see on the noram diagram it shows a spacer (Honda only) but can’t seem to find the part. Also, if it was fixed by this method would it cause any problems? Will be interested to hear peoples’ thoughts.
Thanks mike
