Just done our first endurance prokart race at Wigan. Looking for a few pointers on how to tackle performance for next race.
Myself and my partner were weighing in at 198kg which is 18kg over the minimum weight required. Most of the drivers were weighted up with lead to 180kg so was wondering what kind of performance loss we are facing with the added weight we are carrying....anyone any ideas how many MPH we would be loosing carrying 18kg more???
Our kart top speed was 71.38mph whereas the top drivers were giving off 77mph. They were flying past us on the long straight and I feel I couldnt go intom the corners or come out of them as fast as others, possibly also due to the kart set up?
Our sprocket set up for this track was 20/63 as advised by regulars at the track for our weight range. Most others use 22/66 i think.
Which of the following (or all) would be best to try and up the mph?
1) Differrent sprocket set up? 2) Change carb jets from 68 to 72...how much more mph would this give? 3) Debaffle 2 x exhausts? How much more mph would this give?
Any other advice to increase performance would be appreciated...we are just begginers!!! And yes..we know a DIET would probably be the best option!!!
Thanks Paul
