I would like to put the record straight, regarding EPEC & Clay series. At the beginning of the season it was discussed & agreed between Tony & myself that we would run several rounds together which would mean a large grid, which we thought at that time would number approx 30, but as you all realise after the first round of EPEC we had 30 owner drivers & 7 hires, the feed back Clay was getting we realised we would not be able to fit all the karts on the grid. To be honest 20 years ago I would have run 55 karts without a thought but in this age of over regulation it would not be possible & in fact the formula agreed on by the NKA means a maximum of 44 karts is the max for Clay. As time goes by the 200 cc versus 160 will be resolved by Market forces. It's wonderful to hear all these conspiracy theories but it's simply all a matter of economics. Average circuit hire costs are 2500 per day marshals & insurance costs you need 25 karts just to cover the cost of an event. I have got to be honest without the income from the hire karts I could not run a series that would make economic sense. What we must remember pro karting has been running in the same basic configuration for 25 years however other classes have come & gone ? Let's all be positive & work together to see pro karting continue for another 25 years. Thank you for your input. Regards Bob Pope.
