within 15 seconds of this incident, Hamilton was forced to drive off the track to miss a car coming back on, driving across the grass and handing Kimi the lead (and a winning lead at that) back in any case, which sort of negated the advantage within a very short period of time. Within 5 seconds of that Kimi then spun out all on his own, but the fact is the advantage had righted itself. Not sure I have seen this point discussed anywhere, the point being that if Kimi had held on for the win they would not have given Hamilton a penalty. The fact he spun off and handed Hamilton the win is the only reason they handed him the penalty in my opinion, which means the penalty came about as a result of Kimi's subsequent mistake.
