Schumi in his prime was on another level to anyone else... but even in his last year he was scintillating. His final race in Interlagos left the entire field with no doubts that he had the measure of them.
It seems to be accepted by many that had Schumacher been in Ferrari in 2007, its highly likely he would have won the WDC. He didn't have the Bridgestone learning curve that Kimi had which means he would have likely gotten more out of the earlier races.
This year I feel he would have been even better. His prowess in the wet was amazing and barring accidents you could have counted on him doing much better than Massa and Kimi in Silverstone, Spa and Monza. Even if he finished on/around where Massa is now... he would be ahead in the WDC.
If Massa wins the WDC this year he will be a worthy champion. Sure he's been dreadful in some of the races and he really seems to struggle when conditions aren't perfect. But when they are, he is untouchable.
Kimi is just a waste of Ferrari money IMO... they shouldn't have re-signed him until 2010. If I were diMontezemolo I'd have had Vettel in that car... and he'd probably win the WDC out of the box !
