Davy... this is below your standard!
Your ocean example (analogy) is NOTHING like the global warning argument! We know EXACTLY how much your .... relief..... would affect the ocean in ALL those areas. We also know that NO ONE is likely to DIE from that action of yours!
Your Cirrhosis one is SO good an analogy that I am NOT surprised that you will now do damned nigh ANYTHING to avoid answering it!
However, my question about it was RHETORICAL! The answer that you MUST give to the question is SO obvious that you are not expected make it. Rhetoric also contains the implication that, if you DON'T deny the statement, you HAVE accepted it!
For precision, I re-stated your example for DavidMc and I will copy it here:-
Doctor David to Patient:-
"Your symptoms indicate that MAY have Cirrhoris but we need to do more tests before we can be CERTAIN.
1) If the test show that you HAVE cirrhosis and you stop drinking TODAY while we wait for the tests, it won't get WORSE but continuing to drink might KILL you within DAYS!
2) If you HAVEN'T go cihrossis a few drinks more MIGHT still GIVE it to you. But if haven't got it and you stop drinking today you will actually get a little better ANYWAY.
Therefore, I rcommend that.............."
Now...... YOU play-doctor!
You tell US which you would recommend to THAT patient........
Are you going to tell him to go out an get PLASTERED again??????
REALLY?????
