A more recent occurance of a team mate moving over was Hamilton and Kovy in Germany, when Kovy made it very easy for Lewis to just 'get on with it' after the botched saftey car and pitstop and no one really complained. Slight difference in Kimi had to slow down to to let Massa pass, whereas Lewis cruised up to the back of Kovy - who made no real attempts to keep him behind him. However I quite agree with Ferrari's decision today, it would have been ridiculous to have kept Massa in 3rd! And would have all but ended Massa's title hopes.

The tyre point is interesting, what is the link to the info you found? It has become apparent that the Mclaren uses its tyres more than the Ferrari, therefore the harder compound suites them better as Ferrari struggle to get temperature into them. However I think Bridgestone's decision on compound would have all teams in mind (since they are the single supplier) not just the top two. Anyone know how Bridgestone decide on compound type for any given race? Would the soft/medium compound suit others better not just Mclaren?
