Have a close look at the LOCATIONS of the accidents you list! Not ONE of those is WITHIN the SPECS-covered AREAS!

The section covered by the SPECS experiment is the section starting at the Northern end of the M11 continuing towards the A1M. Strictly, the 'last' section is NOT the 'A14' which has 'turned off' at the Huntingdon-Bramptom link. In reality, it is obvious to 'drivers' that this piece of road is a single section but the people who NAME (errr... numerate) the roads are not quite as 'bright' as the rest of us! Regardless of what it's called, its the section which DIRECTLY joins the M11 to the A1M without turning off the duel carriageway.

For future reference, the SPECS section is WHOLY in CMABRIDGESHIRE. Not ONE part of it is in Northamptonshire or Suffolk ..... as covered by the deaths you list!

Read the discussions on the subject from August 12th 2008 on this web site. Those of us who USE that road section have ALL (even those who are AGAINST speed cameras) commented how much BETTER and more RELAXED that section has become. The FRANTIC driving, tail-gateing, surging, jostling has simply STOPPED! Even if imbeciles WANT to speed, they find themselves in a relaxed group of cars who simply WON'T becasue they KNOW they will be BOOKED! It's not that people are BLOCKING the outside lane! They really do NOT seem to care of you want to 'speed'.... they just move over and LET you on the basis of 'go on sonny...... the cameras WILL get you!'. My experience of THAT section of road is a sudden DECENCY of the drivers on the basis they don't MIND obeying the law because everybody ELSE is doing so!

Don't take my word for it.... go and DRIVE that section. Make sure you use the M11 first (and feel SERIOUS road pressure!) and then continue onto the A1m where ALL the high speeds and pressures return. The 'A14ish' bit feels like a relaxed armchair in comparison!

So SPECTACULAR is the effect that the number of speeding fines/conviction has FALLEN to 17% of the previous year's total!

Damn it.... if EVER proof was needed that SPECS works.... THIS section IS that proof!
