No.... as usual..... there are almost NO deaths caused by following too closely! That's ANOTHER howler! The severity of the accidents are REDUCED by following too closely or else we would NEVER survive our (karting) rolling starts. The deaths occur when following well back BUT not observing the conditions!
Nobody DOUBTS that some accidents occur REGARDLESS of the speeds involved but to extrapolate that into 'speed doesn't kill' is utter COBBLERS!
I COULD use the same bonkers-logic that YOU are using and show that at 0.001 mph, then NO injuring accidents would occur and thus ALL accidents are caused by excessive speed! I.e., anything in EXCESS of 0.001mph COULD be called excessive! That is to lose track of REALITY, too!
