"Thankfully you're now recognising that inattention and inappropriate speed is the cause of most accidents."
Erm...... that's a cracker!
You WANTED to be clever but missed out! For precision, please tell me WHICH road accidents can NOT be attributed to 'inattention'?
* Too fast? = Inattention to conditions! * Side junction? = Inattention to conditions! * Ice? = Inattention to conditions! * Trees on road?= = Inattention to conditions! * Swept off road by flood? = Inattention to conditions!
My view has ALWAYS been, and has always been STATED as being, that the driver is ALWAYS responsible for the accident no matter HOW it was caused! Even if the law judges you to be INNOCENT... you had the TOTAL duty to avoid the accidents simply BECAUSE you have the ABSOLUTE duty to protect your car and passengers REGARDLESS of whose FAULT it was.
I MIGHT be willing to accept that being struck by an asteroid, having a building collapse on you, having an earthquake destroy the bridge you are on, etc., etc., MIGHT absolve you of the responsibility but you'd need to PROVE your case that it WASN'T avoidable before I'd let you off!
So..... in what way have I N*O*W accepted that "now recognising that inattention and inappropriate speed is the cause of most accidents."?
I seem to remember that it HAS been ME who has been banging on about speed for about 7 YEARS on this web site!
For precision.... it's delightful that YOU have finally realised that speed IS one of the major causes of accidents. Welcome, Mr Latecomer!
