""BOTH (appear) to be have caused by NOTHING except the 'dangerous driving' which comes from SPEEDING!""
Were they caused by speeding because the driver knew he/she was over the limit and chose to break it anyway; or was he/she unaware of what the limit was in the first case; or was it that he/she simply wasn't able to judge the adequate speed for the circumstances? All the above conditions have their own faults and explanations, with speed as the CONTRIBUTING factor, not the cause of it! Very important to establish the facts, as well as whether lowering the speed limits on the respective stretches of the road would have avoided the crash in the first place! And be honest about this one please, this HAS been the argument all along!
I apologise, I am not aware of the facts in those cases, please forward links to reporting.
"".... you KNOW all this but you are now DESPERATE to escape answering the QUETSIONS whihc I have raised! Don't KID yourself! There is NOTHING you can do to STOP me from 'turning you on the spit' of you SCHIZOPHRENIC views about Drink Driving and Speeding!""
Given your confessions about your vigilante Speed-Gun toting I'm not sure who is the SCHIZOPHRENIC in all this argument! And I know quite a few things I can do to stop you from doing anything to me! As for my alleged schizophrenia about drink-driving and speeding, I believe I already STATED here IN WRITING that I am behind ZERO DRINK-DRIVING and that I do believe that there are places where the current speed limits ARE too high!
Where we do differ is that I believe putting BLANKET speed limits are NOT the solution, and WON'T have saved the lives of those involved!
Now you got me at the SHOUTING game as well!
""If your Speeding Arbitrariness (blanket) point is VALID about speeding (as put forward in the above answer)... then WHY is the SAME argument about limits being 'Blanket' (Arbitrary) N*O*T applicable to DRINK DRIVING??? Or are you suggesting that people should SIMILARLY be allowed to be 'flexible' about drink-drive limits!""
Simply because you can chose to or not to drink before you sit behind the wheel, but you cannot chose whether you need or not to drive. That's the simple reason why drink-driving argument does not apply to speeding. That and the fact that ALCOHOL and DRUGS impair one's ability to judge and therefore one's ability to drive! Whereas simply raising or lowering the speed by 10mph has no discernadble on one's ability to judge!
In the same way as your agument with the GUN in TESCO doesn't carry water, given that we're all carrying 'guns' on the road, only some of us chose to fire them (speed recklessly) or are seen to be doing so simply because the speed limit is too low!
As a person involved with racing and driving in general, you must be aware that the more you drive the more competent, confident and safer a driver you become. That's why novices are at the back of the grid and almost without exception never win races!
""..... all you HAVE to do is to declare that YOU don't OBJECT to those who drink-drive.... so long as they can 'MANAGE' their drink driving...... Let's hear you MAKE that claim!""
Here IS my claim: I, DAN, BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE NO DRINK DRIVING ALLOWED AND THAT THE LEGAL LIMIT IN THE UK SHOULD BE ZERO. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IMPROPER USE OF SPEED IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE PUNISHED!
How's that? Happy now? Twice in the same reply AND in capitals, maybe you won't be able to miss it this time. I would have thought an intelligent man like you can read English, even if written by a schizophrenic Romanian. Let me know when you're coming over with the breathalyser and I'll put the kettle on!
