Theres no way back to the good old days, which never existed anyway. But its a nice thought isnt it? In this light, Toyotas announcement is good news because it removes another bucket load of excess money from F1. My ideal world involves F1 being stripped of 9/10 of its money, reverting to small, private constructor teams competing in front of and for motorsport fans rather than disinterested corporate hospitality guests attending only to parade themselves. When the glitz goes away, so will they. I can still see the likes of Ken Tyrell, who happened to live and work very near me, operating from a factory that was no more than a glorified farm building. In this parallel universe, investment such as that pompous facility in Abu Dhabi is the worst possible news. Oh well, slap me now and Ill wake up.
