And there you have the reason for high insurance. he vast majority of young drivers are sensible and won't have a crash, but they're painted with the same brush as those who will.

For example, last year a young lad who had just passed his driving test crashed into the back of my van, pushing me into a car in front. The van was written off, as was his car and four people were injured. The cost of his car, approx �1000, my van �2500, car pushed into �1000, injury claims around �10000, legal fees and medical costs poentially another �10000. Not long running up a �25000 bill, and that was his cheap car and my old van. If they'd both been fresher you could double that bill.
So potentially a �50000 bill for a simple rear end shunt. Makes your insurance look cheap at �1200!
