Welll.... my old magazines claimed he raced at Nivelle (where I frist noticed him.... as if that matters!) under the name 'Ayrton da Silva' (E.g., that's the name John Pudney used for him at Nivelles) without the use of the word 'Senna'.
I recently claimed that he moved from 'Ayrton da Silva', via 'Ayrton Senna da Silva' to 'Ayrton Senna' effectively as he moved from Karts, to Formula Ford to Formula 3. Some karter recently said I was wrong..... and this proves they were right!
The old tyres were HUGELY grippy.... I never got my hands on a set!
I am with you, the concept of having TOO much 'grip' is a JOKE! However, I suspect it's poor use of 'English/Technical-Terminology' that is the problem. The kids today say 'too much grip' when the REALLY mean 'too much grip AT THE REAR'.... which really means... 'I've got chronic understeer'.
