Honda S2000

Roadster fun and typical layout, engine in the front power to the back wheels. Will handle great but not as well as a mid-engined motor; although depending on what handling characteristics you desire, that bit of over steer may float your boat more. The ultra high revving VTEC in the Honda will drink gallons of fuel and you have to rev it hard to feel like you're moving - but if it�s a fun car, maybe the fuel economy is irrelevant and you may like thrashing your cars.

You have posted this question on a Karting website so I would assume you are a karter yourself? The Elise is fundamentally a scaled up, powered up, spec'd up, ever-so-slightly more luxurious Go Kart - so the first time you jump into that Elise you should feel right at home. The light weight, small, squat, mid engined Elise, coupled with its low centre of gravity and driving position in my opinion will give you more thrills per minute than any roadster on the market. The car will be far more nimble, chuckable and will more than likely *feel* quicker, and depending on which model you go for, it will be quicker on paper too.

The S2000 may well be an enthusiast�s car, but people also use it every day quite comfortably... a dedicated thrills car should not be comfortable on the way to work!

That is only my opinion based on what I look for in a car, you are the person buying it and for that reason you should think about what you want from a car. Do you want the car to be calm and poised at times, and then thrash it and it comes alive? That�s your S2000. Or do you want a hardcore full on drivers car that will excite you even at 40 mph on a nice country road? That�s your Elise.

Test drive them both, and you'll know instantly which you prefer, as they are both very different cars indeed.

PS. To throw something into the mix... have you considered a Caterham 7 Roadsport?
