Newshound , i have no idea how old you are , or what you want from this weekend toy . However consider a few questions
How long are the journeys that you are likely to uses this toy for ?
how physically mobile are you (trust me we have owned a few elises and getting in when someone has parked close to you isn't fun)
how much comfort can you do without .
elises S1's are more raw and basic , the K series does feel underpowered , but then that depends what your used to
S2's ironed out some of the S1 issues , like the god awful roof , but they still have drawbacks .
we have driven across europe on many occations , but then i have also driven to spain in our 7 to do a trackday ,and i thing the elise is uncomfortable compared to a 7
The honda has it drawbacks too , its tiresome as it has to be reved to really get the best out of it and this again eventually wears on you .
I have to admit , the best all rounder ,and there are alot around at sensible money is the porsche boxster , particularly the boxster S
thats my gambit for an all rounder ....
My wife is a diehard lotus owner (ex seloc director) and loves elises to bits .
she now more than loves the big 4.2 V* convertable for a bit of go (well more than a bit at nearly 400bhp) push button roof lowering and comfy seats .
and we have owned elises, porsches,7's etc
in all honesty you need to take the longest test drive in an elise, honda and i would say boxster and gain an opinion .......
and if you do decide on an elise an azure blue S1 111S is pretty close to the best S1 , despite what the 135 and 160 owners tell you (and we owned a 160 and i hated it)
