Rich.... that's where we came in......
Quinns went down.... it would not be a GREAT surprise if it was because they were unable to price the rates for young drivers and the cars they chose EFFECTIVELY!
And that HAS been my whole point all along! Do NOT be surprised by high insurance quotations for young drivers! It's not a 'conspiracy', not some wicked 'discrimination'.... it's just market-FACTS!
Why NOT take the Ian Flux approach? Buy a 'classic car', you really will have MUCH more FUN in one, anyway, than in a modern BOX. That will cut (apparently) your rate from 3,500 to 950! That would allow you an additional 2,500 to spend on a really GOOD 'classic'. Choose the right one and the women will be MUCH more impressed!
Don't believe me?
Let me tell you a secret.....
When I was a 'lad' I had access to a BIZARRE range of very high performance cars! My family were in the car business and I was insured to drive ANY car in ANY conditions from the age of 17..... HEAVEN....! E.g, I drove to a friends 21st in an Aston Martin DBS........ I went to an 18th in a TVR and had my own Lotus 7 by the age of 18.... my first Elan at the age of 21... etc...
However... the single MOST 'successful' errrr...... 'bird pulling' car was a REAL Fiat 500 (Cinquecento).... it was a classic car even THEN! I bought it for FUN.,...... and had more and DIFFERENT.... err..... 'fun'.... than I ever expected
That really used to ANNOY me.... I had access to really FLASH MISILES and yet girls PREFERRED the Cinq.... I can only assume it was less ludicrously 'flash' and didn't seem threatening!
However.... if you can explain women to me.... I'll accept YOUR advice!
Ian
