"Discrimination based on age, gender, race etc is illegal. "
err....
....No it's not! If only it were.....
You need proof? Ok, here are some examples:
it is NOT legal to have a Male-Only-Shortlist for election canditates.... however.... it is LABOUR PARTY POLICY to ENCOURAGE Female-Only-Shortlists in many constiuencies (except, of course, in Gordon Brown's constituency.....). That's blatant sexual discrimination as it is SOLELY based on SEX (please note, 'gender' is the WRONG word!)
It is UTTERLY legal to restrict voting to those over 18. That's age discrimination.
It is U*T*T*E*R*L*Y illegal to call a black man by the N* word.... unless, of course, the person USING the N* word as an insult is also a black person. That's blatant RACIAL discrimination!
In EACH those cases.... well... they are self-evident!
Secondly, indirect discrimination is ALSO discrimination. Only this week, the British Army was FINED for insisting that a female soldier had to turn up for battle AND for parade when SHE thought that child-care over-rode Army law! She won the case by relying on SEX DISCRIMINATION as this situation was more likely to occur for FEMALE soldiers. It was therefore adjudged to be SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION.... You'll find the same 'inference' ruling has been used in many other cases, e.g., part time workers are predominately female and thus the differentiation between full and part time workers was rules as being 'sexual discrimination'.... by inference!
I am therefore in FABULOUS company to show that what Davy (and now YOU) are suggesting really ARE examples of 'discrimination' against us old people; albeit, by inference!
