No the Govt didn't 'put' that money there. Someone, somewhere, worked freakin' hard to create that wealth and it was then redistributed into your child's bank who I would imagine didn't need it one bit. (You're on a karting forum so you must be better off than most).

So rather than that money being spent on something useful by the person that earned it you've got it instead. Truly incredible! No wonder the deficit is so massive!

And btw this whole thing was predicted years before the crash started. Many were predicted a huge crash starting in the property market which would then see massive government bailouts. It's pretty much all out there written.
