PayPal gives the appearance of being attractive, as their charges to you are quite small. Something that you can easily hide in the cost of your product. However, for peace of mind I would suggest setting up arrangements with Visa; Visa Delta; Mastercard etc. and trade using a company such as Secure Trading. You must ensure that your application can track transactions as well. Do not rely upon the 'third party' to do it for you.
I know that Secure Trading (God - this sounds like an advert) provide a software module that you can host on your server, which confirms that the transaction (i.e. payment) has been validated and completed, and at that point you can deliver the goods / service. This still doesn't get around the fraudulent credit / debit cards, but until we can chop the goolies off the crooks, it is a possible hit that you have to take.
