Well I've just read what it says about bullfighting on Wikipedia [so it must correct!] and discovered that bullfighting set it's roots a long time ago in ritualistic sacrifice, pretty much as I suspected. Throughout history humans will have suffered the same fate to, as sacrificial gifts to the gods, etc.
I don't have a problem getting my head around that because people knew no better in those times.
I understand the glamour, the bravery, the spectacle, and the excitement, of the last 250 years of bullfighting to but try as I may I can not see it [today] as anything other than a ritualistic slaughter that is an absolute disgrace in these modern supposedly enlightened times.
Fortunately, the province of Catalonia has responded. Tradition doesn't necessarily make something acceptable.
