I wouldn't ban 13 year olds racing but...... on a 250......? They are MIGHTY quick....
And kids at the age of 13 really DON'T have an idea of the risks.... they just haven't seen enough of life to KNOW about risks then. At 13, they don't even know what LIFE is, yet!
Finally...
"Sad, but thats why people race, they love the thrill."
As I have tried to explain before... you can test the validity of an argument by trying it out at the EXTREME. If it 'fails' in an extreme case, are you SURE it REALLY makes sense in the less extreme case.....?
If we substituted 'take heroin' for 'race'.. the sentence would read:-
"Sad, but thats why people take heroin, they love the thrill."
If you wouldn't use THAT argument for 13 year olds to be allowed to take heroin.... can you be CERTAIN that it's a good enough argument to let them race 250cc on a VERY fast circuit?
The point is, if you CAN'T give the SAME justification for being allowed taking heroin at 13, are you SURE your point about being allowed to enjoy the 'thrill' is REALLY enough...?
Yes, there ARE other reasons why, perhaps, 13 year olds OUGHT to be allowed to race 250cc bikes..... but just being 'a thrill' may NOT be good enough!
