Remember when he had his arm severed by a helicopter crash back in 1990? lets hope its not a story like Sandro's, although in the overall scheme of things he was a lucky man to still have two arms. I sometimes wonder where his career would have gone? As an ex-Minardi F2 man he was one of my favourite drivers, yet I am not sure if he would have gone on to further success with Benetton or if he had already peaked? Even if he had got the upper hand on Piquet, would he have galvanised the team like Schumacher subsequently did? For sure it would have meant Schumachers story was different, presumably he would have been a Jordan driver in 92 (ouch!) and then a Sauber driver in 93 (hmmm) and then who knows, maybe Mclaren. The story might have been so different if not for that helicopter crash that Sandro had. But Im digressing, lets hope Robert is able to come back to F1 once more, and moreso has lost none of that uncomplicated speed - its a shame because he could have been a contender this year. Senna or Grosejean both are worthy replacements, but they cant be expected to be of the same pace straight off, but then again who currently available is? Heidfeld? probably not, Liuzzi? nope... Kimi? I think they burnt their bridges with him. Senna for me should be given a try out, he deserves it after his bum deals with Brawn and HRT.
Lets hope Roberts story does not stop here - his love of karting and rallying marked him out as very different to the modern F1 driver, I hope the story has a happy ending.
