No.... usually front-most. Some fire to the rear but not as many!

If you've seen a 'pre-natal' ultrasound image, you'll know how 'amorphous' the shapes are as seen by 'echos'. A Gatso would 'see' a MUCH less detailed Blob (if it COULD see at all!)!

Gatso's take a VERY rough average.... and it's pretty damned accurate, for speed.

Ohhh... and the side of the van is also doing 37mph, too.....

The rules are quite strict on the amount of 'angle' at which the 'Cameras' are placed so, they don't see a great deal of the side of the vehicle.... nor error cuased by the vehicle NOT traveling in the direction of the camera's line of sight.

Laser based cameras use a large amount of the 'reflection' from the number-plate!

Just for fun.... I am applying for my Police NNPV approval to use speed guns. The signed form is on my kitchen table to be handed in on Saturday. Apparently, I get a type of Warrant Card AND access to the Police database of registration numbers...... OOOOOOoooooo the POWER! I get the truncheon next, opnce I am trained in knee-bending and trhe correct pronunciation of "'Ello, 'ello, 'ello..."!
