Yet another new one for 2012. As a 7.5 tonne Driver you will from Jan 1 2012 be required to gain a" DRIVERS CPC". This is course based, and will basically allow you to drive a 7.5 ton vehicle in the UK and abroad. It will show your competetence in regulation compliance, drivers records, maintenance, operator's requirements legally etc, however its a minefield and once again the authorities cannot give a difinitive answer as to exemptions (Google 7.5 ton Drivers CPC).
It could ,possibly, affect anyone using a 7.5 tonne camper van, motorhome ,race truck etc as well as general goods moving, take a look, as lots of "horsey" people are already looking to downsizing to 5 tonners.
I have a Goods International CPC and an HGV licence, this allows me to be a Transport Manager for a fleet of Goods Vehicles operating in the UK and abroad up to 44 tonne and drive them, however I was told on Friday I will need one of these licences to drive a 7.5 ton vehicle if I own it.I will be able to avoid it if it is registered in a companies name and listed on their Operators Licence !!!!
