Oh Chris..... dont be silly..... do you REALLY thinbk the Labour Party and the Liberals are NOT split on the EU question?

It's NOT a 'party-thing' nor a 'left-right-thing'. Just look at the two stances of Blair and Brown on the subject... successive Labour PMs with ENTIRELY opposing views on the subject. That split STILL exists in the Labs and Libs TOO!

You keep forgetting the second point: if we can have a Referendum on the EU.... then why not on:-

1) Hanging
2) Immigration
3) RePATRIATION
4) the speeding laws
5) the Drink Drive laws
6) Cannabis
7) Etc..?

THAT's why politicians HATE giving referenda.... if you get one, you'll want MORE and how can they REFUSE?

This one is a 'can-of-worms'! Mixing my metaphors: this one "opens Pandora's box"..... and there is NO 'hope' in THIS box!
