It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of Paul Deavin at the age of 61.
You'd need to be a karter of 'mature' years to know Paul but he was one of the 'greats' of Karting. He, his brothers and father Reg, formed Deavinson Karts and they, for many years, made some of THE fastest karts in the world. So good were they that World Champions drove them and drove FOR them.
I remember Paul racing and he was a GREAT driver himself.
Paul's connection with Rye House goes back over 40 years to my personal knowledge.
As far as I know, the funeral service will be at 2pm on Thursday 15th August at Waltham Abbey Church. If you intend to go, please inform John Huff at Rye House (Motorsport World) so they can plan for the numbers.
I have no official role in this: I am just reporting what I know from various sources. No one else here has reported this so far. As I said earlier, you need to be old to know quite how important Paul was to karting.
