Reading comprehension doesn't seem to be anyone's forte.
The track IS NOT being shut by the council. The company that owns the lease and runs the circuit has gone into administration; primarily - they say - because the cost of the lease has risen substantially, but secondarily because rather than the three days they could previously run (Weds, Sat, Sun), they were now limited to two. The statement from MPML even states that the local council were supportive of their proposals to save the circuit.
Having said that, it is my understanding that it was MPML that started operating for more than the 3 days previously allowed (probably to pay the increased lease costs) and were running cars that exceeded the prescribed noise limits, but this may or may not be true. I haven't been to Mallory for at least 8 years.
