I had the privilege,

Buckmore and Rye all through the 90's in 100A and Formula B.

When the grids died out in 97 we all raced 100C but he continued to race Formula B/ICA with the 3 or 4 entires that would show up.

So usually they would share our grid. We still use to beat him but Charles was getting on a bit even back then. He was a very quiet man, always a pleasure to chat with and to be honest the pictures and the stories in the papers seem a little unreal. But then how well do you really ever know anyone....

Whilst heading down memory lane, I just dug out some photos and I have a picture of Charles at a rye house drivers briefing in his bright green BP sponsored overalls. Loads of other faces in the pic too.. Some time in 95 or 96 i think.
