Road racing in a bike is totally different to track racing in a car / kart.

Even closed circuit bike racing is more dangerous than car / kart racing. The two are not comparable.

I've just started bike racing after years of karting. Every I get on a bike I remind myself that I could seriously damage myself. this thought NEVER crossed my mind in 15 years of kart racing.

TT riders or road racing riders fully understand that there is a very strong likelihood that if they bin it, they will not survive. Whether you can get your head around that or not, is upto you but the DO all FULLY understand the risks and they still conitnue.

It's a unique, historical event. Although I do agree losses are sad, if people didn't want to do it, the event would cancel itself.
