...the only thing that can speed you up is your right foot! You shouldn't be speeding at all,
There is another element which can "trip you up", other than the right foot Tangler! And that is both your eyes! Most of us drivers who are in the habit of driving (rather than just watching the speeding traffic) are using our eyes to drive! If you move through an area where the nature and furniture of the road doesn't change at all, however where the speed limit changes you can get tripped-up by the intended change of limit, be it because let's say we're passing Tangler's house and he's pressurised the powers to stick the sign in his area (just because he's not skilled enough to use his right foot to safely exit his drive) or because, like RoadRat has hinted there might be an alternative agenda (and we cannot ignore the camouflage netting in that argument).
Once again you skilfully sailed past the SAFETY argument in John and RoadRat's arguments! I.e. the fact that this mad attitude in imposed speed changes forces us to look at the speedo more often than we ought to (in fear of our license) more than we do so to the road conditions and hazards that we are negotiating! Were we to be freed from this constant panic about our license we might be free to notice Tangler's "hidden" house and his tentative attempts at safely negotiating the exit from his drive!
Yes Tangler, we got the message about the fact that if you hit a fly at 10mph it will bounce off our windscreen, whereas if you do so at 30mph or higher its own ar*e will travel at the same speed through its head! You don't need to repeat that fact to us! We aren't that stupid not to realise that the greater the speed the greater the damage! And no one here is really advocating against low speeds through areas which need protecting (from high speed). So you can drop that one as well!
However, in your desperation to drum-up support for your narrow minded, ill informed agenda, you have failed to see the big picture: we still need to get to work or wherever we are travelling! And we are an increasingly more mobile country with limited usable public transport, so we need to drive wherever we go! That means that blanket imposed slower speeds WILL soon grind the country to a halt! Unless we double or triple THE PIPE we travel down!
No one here is advocating that safety isn't the point (read the whole thread again and you'll see that we all ARE concerned with safety), what we ARE concerned with is the fact that the likes of you (with an organised agenda, and dare I say a bit more time to do something about it) get too much of the government's ear and you're IMPOSING your agenda upon the road users, upon those that do really have to be on the road, upon those that (in spite of your own opinion) do care about their own and others safety on the road!!! That's what John was refering when he mention the fact we live in a DEMOCRACY! In case you didn't get the message! The driving population is far from being in a minority!
