It's not the developers who have marked up the price, it's the resellers, if there is one selling the game at �20 inc VAT then you have to assume that the other retailers are making a mint on the games.
It's not wrong, it's good to make as much money as possible but I can't understand how the variation can be so vast. On the point of piracy, well it can be argued that the more people that group together to play the game will drive demand for the game and that some people getting free copies will mean their friends might go out and buy a game they wouldn't have bought otherwise. I am not agreeing with piracy because morally it is wrong and I personally don't think it's right, but the potential financial gains are not quite as you would expect if piracy was completely eradicated.
