"It's now up to you to explain how DRINK causes road deaths when, using the SAME arguments, I could not IDENTICALLY prove that SPEED causes accidents. Do NOT make simple bold statements like 'speed doesn't kill'.... and 'drink kills' explain HOW those two differ."
Ok.......Rural road, 40mph limit, has a 1/4mile straight then a 90deg bend. Along comes driver A at 60mph down the straight and goes round the bend at 60mph, no problems. Along comes driver B (in the same type of car), but at 80mph. Down the straight, tries to take the corner at 80mph, flies off the road and kills himself. He died because he mis-judged the cornering speed, not because he was exceeding the speed limit; as proved by driver A getting round it illegally at 60mph! Drivers C, D & E have been drinking & are over the DD limit but all negotiate the road ok at 60mph. Driver F arrives, also over the DD limit, at 60mph, but misjudges the corner, turns in too sharply, and crashes with fatal results. The fact that Driver A got round above the limit proves that exceeding the limit was not why driver B died, but the fact that drivers C,D,& E got round it ok does NOT prove that being over the DD limit was not the reason for driver F's misjudgement! NOW DO YOU GET IT !!
