They are bred to race. If they're no good they're off to the knackers yard - pronto. If they don't want to race, they won't. If they don't want to jump, they won't. If they don't like something their ears are flat back. Anyone seen any like this at the races? If they are interested, ears are pricked. If a horse can't race or won't race, owners don't waste their money. Injuries sustained by horses that result in them being put down (to avoid unnecessary suffering!) could easily be repaired in humans. Horses with broken legs just want to get up and run. Synchronised, for example, suffered a soft tissue injury at the sixth fence but ran on to the 11th before suffering a leg fracture which resulted in euthanasia.
